New interpretation at Hampton Court

The palace team have been updating the kitchens at Hampton Court and have introduced some new interpretations which are fascinating. For example, through the green door in the photo on the right hand side is a re-enactment of a meeting of the Board of the Green Cloth so called because when they met, they sat around a table laid with a green cloth! It is so interesting to see what the clerks used to wear and to see them using their ancient accounting tools. Do come for a visit - from 7 January until 15 February, entry is half price if you book online. Now, some of the palace might be closed on the day you visit because of maintenance work which tends to get scheduled for the quieter winter months but there will still be loads left to see.
