I was sad to see that Cavendish Square has finally lost its statue made out of soap, presumably washed away in the Winter rains! Originally, an equestrian statue of the Duke of Cumberland stood on the centre plinth only to be torn down when a closer examination of his activities on the battle field marked him out as a butcher. But in July 2012, the Korean sculptor Meekyoung Shin was commissioned to create a new work for the plinth which saw the Duke returning, but this time created from soap! Lovely to see, though, that Miss Mooney Penny, the cow, is still gracing one of the Square's balcony's. She was one of the bovine participants in the London Cow Parade of 2002 and is covered from head to hide in 2p pieces!
